This Retreat Is Designed For Couples Who’d like to

  • Rekindle, Reconnect, and Renew their relationship and commitment to each other
  • Rediscover warmth, play, and joy in their partnership—not just talk about connection, but feel it in real time.
  • Interrupt painful, reactive cycles and learn how to reach for each other instead of shutting down, blaming, or withdrawing.
  • Explore the ketamine space together as a doorway into curiosity, compassion, and new perspectives on “us.”
  • Softly confront long-standing patterns with support—defensiveness, old stories, and projections that keep you stuck.
  • Build new emotional “muscle” for repair, empathy, and co-regulation so you can handle conflict without losing connection.

What to expect: The Retreat Journey

Our couples KAP retreat is held in three phases: Preparation, Medicine Days, and Integration. Each step is designed to prioritize safety, deepen connection, and help you bring what you experience back home into daily life.

A person dressed in white stands against a rocky backdrop with their head tilted back and arms stretched behind them, embodying a sense of openness and freedom.
1. Preparation (Before You Arrive)
  • Clinical review & intake – Online screening plus a 1:1 biopsychosocial and relationship review to confirm safety, update medications, and screen for contraindications.
  • Couple agreements & boundaries – Shared guidelines around confidentiality, non-violence, a substance-free window (48 hours pre/post), and stop-words/hand signals for safety.
  • Orientation call (90 minutes on Zoom) – Meet your team, learn about the “secure couple bubble,” set intentions, and review logistics so you arrive informed and grounded.

2. Medicine Days (On Site)
  • Two journeys, one sitter – Partner A journeys Saturday and Partner B journeys Sunday, alternating roles as journeyer and supportive sitter.
  • IM ketamine with medical oversight – Weight/history-informed IM dosing, vitals before and after, and Nurse Practitioner monitoring; anti-nausea medication available as needed.
  • Regulation & ritual – Gentle breathwork and movement, sound bowls for “send-off” and “landing,” and a quiet, dim, supportive setting to help your nervous system feel safe.
  • Nourishment – Clear broths and ginger tea on re-entry, light grounding meals, and optional snacks for gentle grazing.

3. Integration (During & After)

  • Relational skills you can use at home – PACT-informed repair, co-regulation tools, and short micro-practices for everyday life.
  • Governance & commitments – Draft your shared Principles of Governance and “10 Commandments for Us” to carry forward after the retreat.
  • Optional 1 month post-retreat integration call – A follow-up Zoom session to check in, normalize re-entry, and reinforce the practices that support your next chapter together.

Your Guides on This Journey

She offers Ketamine‑Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to individuals and couples in a safe, compassionate setting, integrating modalities such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and MBRS to foster emotional release, self‑discovery, and visionary insight. When working with couples, Phuong draws on her advanced training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT Level II) to help partners deepen emotional attunement, strengthen communication, and cultivate secure connection.

Marie Saint-Loth, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in critical care and years of experience providing IV ketamine treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and related conditions. She focuses on careful screening, personalized dosing, and making sure patients understand what to expect. Trained in acupuncture, functional medicine, and certified in psychedelic-assisted therapies through CIIS. She sees ketamine as a catalyst — not a cure — best used in a safe, supportive setting with good preparation and integration.

Bao Chau Van, LICSW

Certified in psychedelic-assisted therapies through CIIS, she offers Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to support couples in moving through stuck patterns and repairing ruptures. With compassion and creativity, Bao Chau guides partners in meeting their protective and wounded parts, fostering shared insight, cultivating self-leadership, and opening space for the possibilities that emerge within a secure-functioning relationship.

About The Medicine

Thoughtful dosing
We use intramuscular ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (IM KAP) journeys, with booster doses given only when clinically indicated.

Clinical oversight
A Nurse Practitioner is present throughout your sessions, monitoring vital signs and offering optional medications for nausea, headaches, or other side effects, as needed.

Full arc of care
You’re supported before, during, and after the medicine days with preparation, guided dosing sessions, and integration—within a consent-forward, trauma-informed approach.

What is ketamine?
Ketamine is an FDA-approved anesthetic that, at much lower doses, has been used for years to treat depression, anxiety, and PTSD. In therapeutic settings, it can briefly increase neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form new connections—and soften rigid patterns in how we think, feel, and relate.
How do we use it here?
In this retreat, ketamine is used in carefully monitored, low-dose sessions within a structured therapeutic container. You’ll be medically screened, your vital signs are monitored, and there is always a trained clinician present.
How Ketamine Supports Couples’ Work?
Softens rigid patterns
Low-dose ketamine can temporarily increase neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to form new connections and loosen old patterns—so it’s easier to step out of old arguments and automatic reactions.
Helps you feel more and defend less
Many couples get stuck in fight, flight, or shutdown. Ketamine may reduce defensive “armor” just enough for you to notice your emotions, needs, and your partner with more openness and curiosity.
Creates a window for new relational experiences
The medicine doesn’t “fix” a relationship on its own. Instead, it creates a window where, with skilled support, you can experience each other differently—then bring those new patterns into your daily life.

KAP: Opening New Doors to Each Other

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) gives couples a uniquely powerful opportunity to loosen rigid patterns, access deeper emotional truth, and experience each other with fresh perspectives. In this structured, clinician-led container, ketamine sessions are held within a framework that blends:

  • Attachment and nervous system science (how safety and threat show up in your body and your bond)
  • Developmental and relational models of couples therapy (how your histories collide and can also heal)
  • Guided integration practices (so insights turn into real-life change at home)

Over the course of the weekend, you and your partner will receive more than just “tools”—you’ll have lived experiences of being on the same team again, with time to practice new ways of turning toward each other, even when things feel hard.

Nourishment that supports the work
  • Warm, grounding meals (broths, grain bowls, and protein-filled dishes)
  • Light, anti-inflammatory snacks & steady hydration
  • Herbal teas (ginger, mint) & electrolyte water

Safety & Screening

Your safety—emotional and medical—is our first priority. Every couple completes a medical and psychological screening before being accepted into the retreat.

Not a Fit at This Time (Hard Stops)

For safety reasons, we are not able to offer ketamine-assisted work in this retreat if any of the following are present:
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Recent heart attack, stroke, major cardiac event, serious breathing problems, liver/ kidney/bladder disease, seizures, traumatic brain injury, or previous adverse reactions to anesthesia
  • Recent manic episode or psychosis
  • History of schizophrenia or related psychotic disorders
  • Active suicidal thoughts with intent or plan
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

If any of these apply to you, we’re happy to help you consider other, more appropriate levels of care.

Conditions We Review More Carefully (Cautions)

These histories and medications don’t automatically exclude you, but they do require a closer look and possibly extra support or adjustments:

  • Medical Stability:
Borderline Hypertension, OSA, motion sickness, intractable nausea, or recent hospitalizations
  • Mood & long-term patterns:
Treatment-resistant depression, significant emotional dysregulation, borderline or other personality disorders, or bipolar disorder with past manic episodes
  • Dissociation & parts of self:
History of severe dissociation or a diagnosis such as Dissociative Identity Disorder
  • Medications:
High-dose benzodiazepines, or medications such as opioids, lithium, MAOIs, or disulfiram
If any of these apply, we’ll talk them through together and decide whether this specific retreat is the safest and most supportive option for you right now.
Relational safety & fit
This retreat is designed for couples who, even if they’re struggling, can commit to basic emotional and physical safety with one another. If any of the following are present, this retreat may not be the right level of care at this time:
  • You feel afraid of your partner’s reactions or feel you cannot be honest without fear of retaliation.
  • There has been physical aggression, threats, or destruction of property in the relationship.
  • There is ongoing emotional or verbal abuse (e.g., repeated insults, humiliation, or intimidation).
  • One partner is currently in an active affair or secret relationship that has not been disclosed or processed in therapy.
If you recognize yourself in any of these, you are not alone, and it does not mean you are broken or beyond help. It simply means that a different kind of support—such as individual therapy, safety and support resources, or higher-level care—may be safer and more appropriate right now.

What we’ll ask about

  • Medical/Psychological history & meds
  • Safety & risk factors
  • Relationship fit

Shared Agreements for the Group

To protect everyone’s experience, all participants agree to:

  • Confidentiality – What is shared in the group stays in the group.
  • Non-violence, including in language – No verbal, emotional, or physical aggression; no yelling, name-calling, or shaming.
  • Substance-free container – No alcohol or recreational substances for 48 hours before and 48 hours after medicine sessions.
  • Respect for pacing – Honor your own limits and your partner’s; no pressuring yourself or your partner to share more than feels safe.
  • Use insights, not weapons – Commit not to use anything your partner shares in the retreat as ammunition later.
These agreements help us create a grounded, respectful space where deep work can unfold as safely as possible—for you, your partner, and the group.
